Fire policewomen

• New York Times

BOISE, Idaho Boise's first female police officer has been dismissed, one of four female members to be fired in a week.

The officer, Mary Morris, said she had been the victim of rumors and that the departmental investigation that led to the dismissals focused on her personal life and violated her right to privacy. At least two of those dismissed were charged with violating the "crime against nature" law, which deals with homosexual activity.

Miss Morris joined the force in 1973 as a dispatcher and has worked as a patrol officer for the last year and a half.
